The Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of a panel measures how effectively it absorbs sound. High-NRC ceiling panels are most effective in open areas because they can reduce reverberation within the space. NRC is represented by a number between 0 and 1.00, which indicates the percentage of sound reaching it that will be absorbed. For example, an acoustical ceiling panel with an NRC value of .60 will absorb 60% of the sound that strikes it and deflect 40% back into the space.
An NRC of .50 or higher offers significant sound absorption, and USG panels designed for increased acoustical performance feature NRC ratings of .70 or above. Our HALCYON CLIMAPLUS ceiling panel offers an NRC of 1.00, the highest rating. |
